Day 17 in Chengdu - First TCM lecture!!!

The day began with us heading over to the teaching block for our first ever lecture on TCM by Mr Ryan!! How exciting. I use TCM herbs frequently, but to be learning about them in-depth is something that I have been looking forward to! Anyway, class started with Mr Ryan asking us to give a short description of what we have learnt from Ms Cahn's classes, and also what we expected to learn from TCM. The first lecture was about the basics of TCM, as well as the history and influences, and also the differences between TCM and Western Medicine. One thing interesting about TCM was that it was somewhat illogical, such as the presence of Qi and the balance of Yin and Yang in the body, but it is something that TCM practitioners look upon for cures.

After the class, lunch with classmates at the business district, and Mr Ryan joined us too!! Had a fun and interesting chat, and learned more about him as well. He came across as a outgoing and friendly person that you can approach. After lunch, headed back to class for our OIE classes.

The 1st OIE class ended early, as it was about Chinese Festivals, and it was the same as what we celebrate back in Singapore, so nothing new there. Next up was a lecture about the five colors, namely black, white, yellow, green and red, as well as their significance. It was a rather boring class....... But learnt some new things along the way. Finally classes ended and we headed back to the dorm for rest, and to prepare for the quiz the next morning! That roughly sums up my day, and here comes the pictures!!
